08.25.2009 - O'Reilly Beautiful Security references theory and weaknesses that enabled L0phtCrack
The O'Reilly book Beautiful Security is a collection of essays on interesting computer and network security issues written by established computer security professionals. The lead chapter entitled Psychological Security Traps was written by Mudge and contains, among other things, some little known background on L0phtCrack. Permission has been granted for the authors to freely distribute their respective chapters and all proceeds from the book are being donated to the non-profit organization ISOC. ISOC funds and enables many internet related activities including support of the IETF. We hope you find the chapter enjoyable!

05.26.2009 - L0phtCrack 6 Released
The code and L0phtCrack name have taken a long strange trip from proof of concept code for a vulnerability in 1997 to a commercial application funding the L0pht's security research to being sold as a product by the security consulting company @stake and then by the largest security software company in the world, Symantec. Now it is back in the hands of the original authors from the L0pht who are giving it the care and feeding it deserves.
